Farm Works 2008 Software Features:
Farm Works SoftwareŽ has continued to listen to suggestions from our
users and is proud to announce the release of the all-new Version 2008!
The research and development team of Farm Works Software has taken the
most requested features from our users and added a number of important
features to both the office suite programs (Farm Trac, Farm Site, Farm Funds, and Site Pro) and Trac Mate / Site Mate
programs. This new generation of the software offers far more of what
farmers are looking for, making the program easier to use than ever
before! What’s more important is that Farm Works is constantly
working to add features and update the software based on feedback from
our users. When you purchase an update to Version 2008, you will not
only be getting the features that are listed below, but additionally
you will get all features that are added to the program through Summer
2008. These updates can be downloaded with the click of a mouse using
the “Check for Updates” option in Farm Works.
Enhancements to All Software:
- Updated Manuals
– Farm Works has updated detailed manuals that are included with all
updates. These include updated desktop and “Mate” manuals. These
manuals include step-by-step instructions on how to use each program.
- Updated Tutorials
– Over the years we’ve found that users tend to learn the best by being
shown how to use a software program. The Farm Works Tutorials give
users the opportunity to see how to use the software while interacting
with the actual programs.
- Enhanced Copy Project Button
– With Farm Trac, Funds and Site the Copy Project function has been
expanded. You can now select to copy Inputs, Field Boundaries, Layers,
Notes or the Chart of Accounts. This gives Farm Funds users the ability
to copy Farm Trac & Site data without Farm Funds data.

Enhancements in Farm Trac and Site Pro Version 2008:
- Invoice Tool
– When you set up People, Equipment and Supplies, there is now an
“Invoice” tab where you can tell the program that you want to generate
invoices when the item is used. You can then enter an Invoice
Description, and Invoice Rate. Anytime the item (person, equipment or
supply) is used in a Farming Action, you can create an invoice. These
invoices can be customized with logos, memos and other information.
This feature is useful for billing out Custom Harvest, Application and
other jobs.

- Support for Tank Mixes
– You can now select any combination of supplies and save them as a
tank mix. When you do this, you will enter a rate or quantity for each
individual supply (including water) and then enter the total amount of
product that this makes. The program saves this information to make
field records easy for you. When you enter a field record you can
select a tank mix and enter the rate or total quantity of the mix
applied. The program will then do the work for you and compute the
quantity and rate of each individual supply and your records will be
updated appropriately.
- Updated REI Reports – REI Reports include a number of new features including the ability to be sorted alphabetically.
- Updated Fertilizer Reports – Users can now specify the order that nutrients will be displayed in the Fertilizer Report.
- Soil Type Defaults – The program will now default the Soil Type in the Farming.
- Printing from Farming box
– You can now print a group of jobs (the Farming box) by selecting the
jobs and right-clicking and selecting “Properties”. In the Farming box,
you can go to the “File” menu and select “Print” to print out the
Farming spreadsheet.
- Added Region Name to Jobs –
When you import data, the Region Name will be filled out based on what
the device collects. For example, with an Ag Leader Yield Monitor, the
Region Name will be the Load ID. With an Agco GTA terminal, the Region
ID could be the Seed Variety that was used.
Enhancements in Farm Site and Site Pro Version 2008:
- New Buffer Tool
– With the Buffer Tool you can select any part (or the entire) boundary
of a field or any area/polygon. You can then enter a distance or the
size of an area and the program will split the area based on your
settings. This option is ideal for creating setbacks and refuge
boundaries as well as terraces.
- Average Polygons
– When creating a view for point data (such as yield maps), there is
now an option to create a view based on an “Area”. When you do this,
you can select an area/polygon layer such as a soil type map. The
program will then create a new view of the point data with the average
of the points within each area. As an example, this makes it
possible to get an average of yield data (points) based on soil types
(areas).
- New Map Printing Options
– When printing a map, you have the option to either print default
information (which gives a summary with average values, # of acres, and
other information) or you can choose to manually enter text for a Title
and Information.
- Expanded Split Drawing Tool
– The Split Polygon Tool now has options to create a split as a Line,
Polygon, Rectangle, or Circle. This makes it easier to split maps such
as splitting out management zones or splitting a field operation.
- Create a Map for a Job
– If you have a Farm Trac Job (such as a planting job) that does not
have a GPS Map, you can right-click on the job and select “Create Map”.
You will then have a boundary map of the field that you will be able to
edit. You can use the “Split Tool” to split the boundary. You can then
assign different parts of the boundary to different parts of the job.
This means that one part of the field can be assigned to one variety
and another to the other (as an example).
- Printing Map Select Area
– When you print a map, you have a “Select Area” option. This gives you
a red box that you can position around the part of the map to be
printed.
- Updated Node Edit/Edit Points Tool
– When you use the Node Edit/Edit Points Tool, the program will now
compute and display the size/area of the selected area/polygon. This
size gets updated as you move points.
- Greater Support for Reading and Writing John Deere GS1 and GS2 data –
Farm Site and Site Pro can write data for use with a GS1 or GS2
display. This includes the names of clients, farms, fields, supplies,
crops and other items along with prescription maps. The programs
can also read both application/Field Doc data as well as yield data.
- Support for Ag Leader Application Data with No Rates
– When data is logged with an Ag Leader Yield Monitor (such as an
Insight) and rates are not logged, the program will now create a Job
with the supply that was used. This Job can be edited and the correct
rate can be assigned.
- Yield Monitor Load Report – Farm Site and Site Pro include a Yield Monitor Load Summary Report.
- Support for Case/New Holland Voyager 2 Data – CNH
recently introduced a new yield monitor with a new data format.
Farm Site and Site Pro now supports reading this data format.
- Added Support for Soil Types with Complex Shapes
– In the past the background import option for Soil Types would not
work with extremely large and complex soil types. This has been
resolved so that all soil type data will import.
- Added Support for Raven Viper .rbin Files
– The Read Job Data box includes an option for reading Raven .rbin
files. When these files are read, the data will come in as a job
with all available data items that are collected with the Viper.
- Batch Export of Jobs in FODM/XML File Format –
You can now to go the Job tab and select multiple jobs (using the Shift
or Ctrl keys on the keyboard) and right-click and batch export them in
the FODM/XML file format. This is a useful way to exchange jobs
(with or without maps) between Farm Trac and Site and Site Pro.
This format also works with other agricultural mapping and field
recording programs.
- Yield Data Reconciliation
– You can now go to the “Job Properties” box for a harvest job that has
yield data and change the quantity harvested. When you do this,
the program will give you the option to change the map. This will
change the yield map to match the quantity that’s entered. This
can be used in conjunction with the Scale Ticket button to make the
yield map match your scale tickets.
*Note that this will be included in a free update in early 2008.
- Importing Multiple Background Maps – You
can now select a group of files (such as ArcView Shape Files) and
import all of the files as background maps at the same time.
Enhancements in Farm Funds Version 2008:
- Streamlined Employee “Retirement”
– If you right-click on an employee in the Inputs tab on the left and
select “Retire”, the program will give you the option to have the
termination date set for you.
- Upgraded Enterprise Maintenance –
Version 2008 includes a new Enterprise Maintenance area where you can
merge, edit and delete enterprises that you’ve created.
Enterprise Maintenance also allows you to change an enterprise from
Field Prep (or blank) to a crop.
- Comparative Income Statement
– The Cash and Accrual Income Statements have a column for “Current
Period” income & expenses. It then has a column for the amounts for
the same period in the previous year and a column with the % change.
Enhancements in Site Mate Version 2008:
- Site Mate includes a “3 D” interface
- This new interface makes it easy to see previously driven passes in a
3D mode in the Map tab. When you are in 3D mode, your map will rotate
so your direction of travel is always up and you can see adjoining
passes where you have driven. When used with Guide Mate it is even
easier to see upcoming turns for contour and last pass mode.

- Site Mate VRA Boom Section Logging – Site Mate VRA can log individual boom sections for controllers that output this information.
- Farm Site Mate Jobs created by Client/Farm/Field/Crop/Year
– When you enter a Site Mate job, you can select a
Client/Farm/Field/Crop/Year and Job Type for the job. This results in
automatic file creation. More importantly, the data can be synchronized
with Farm Site or Site Pro and it will be assigned to the proper place
in the layer tree.
- Updated Area Logging with Trac Mate/Site Mate – Changed the loading of Unfinished Jobs so acres no longer get doubled in some situations.
- Speed Displayed in Map Tab – Site Mate will now display your speed in larger text in the Map tab.
Enhancements in Guide Mate Version 2008:
- Guide Mate includes a Last Pass & Center Pivot Guidance Patterns
- Last Past Guidance makes guidance simple for even the novice user.
There’s no need to Set A or B points, just drive and Guide Mate will
steer you based on the nearest previous pass. If desired it can be used
in conjunction with A/B guidance.

Enhancements in Farm Trac Mate Version 2008:
- Support for Tank Mixes
– Trac Mate works with Tank Mixes that are created in Farm Trac, Farm
Site Pro or in Trac Mate itself. You can then select a Tank Mix in Trac
Mate and enter the rate or quantity used for the tank mix without
worrying about the individual supplies that make up the mix. When you
synchronize with Farm Trac or Site Pro, the quantities and rates for
each supply will be computed and your records will be updated.
- Updated Area Logging with Trac Mate/Site Mate – Changed the loading of Unfinished Jobs so acres no longer get doubled in some situations.
Enhancements in Farm Stock Version 2008:
- Search in Health Records
- When entering a Health Record, there is a Search option where you can
enter an Animal ID (or part of an ID) and the program will find all Ids
that meet your criteria.
- Updated Calendar Report – When you print the Calendar Window, the program now has an enhanced report that utilizes the full size of the paper.
